NORTH SHORE - HANALEI TOUR - St. Regis Hotel Site-Inspect
Sunday, June 12, 2011
Compliments of Aloha Holidays
Driving over the one-lane bridge into town feels like a step back in time. Located at the
crest of Hanalei Bay, the town has plenty to offer in the way of food, shopping, beaches and
local history. The pier is the spot where Peter, Paul and Mary wrote "Puff the Magic Dragon"
and you'll definitely feel the presence of the tie-dyed counterculture around the
turn-of-the-century buildings that mark this landmark locale.
Each street side has a plantation-style shopping complex, and the best place to start is
the center of town. The Ching Young village, marked by the vibrant red, '50s-style Chinese
pagoda entrance is a great stop for surf shops, local artisanal galleries and shaved ice.
Across the street, the Hanalei Center is home to pearl shops, an antique Hawaiiana gallery and
Java Kai, a favorite coffee haunt. Also site-inspect and lunch at St.
Regis at Princeville Resort
